Salaš Isailovi — a salaš is a traditional Vojvodina farmstead — works strictly by prior arrangement, so every group arrival is fitted around your itinerary rather than around a restaurant’s opening hours. We are at Rumski drum bb, 5 km from the centre of Sremska Mitrovica and 5 minutes from the E70 motorway exit on the Zagreb–Belgrade route. The indoor area has 80 seats, and together with the outdoor area our optimum is 120 guests. The minimum group is 20 people. Location on the Zagreb–Belgrade route
The E70 motorway is the main road corridor between Zagreb and Belgrade, and the salaš is 5 minutes from the Sremska Mitrovica exit. For groups travelling that route in either direction the detour off the line is short, so a lunch stop fits into driving that is already planned.
From the Batrovci border crossing to the salaš is 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic — we are within reach of groups entering from Croatia in the morning, and the exact time of the meal is agreed in advance. Belgrade is about 50 minutes away and Novi Sad about 55, so the salaš is also an option for a half-day excursion from either city.
We are open about the approach: the road is partly asphalt, and the further stretch is crushed-stone macadam — the asphalt does not run all the way to the gate. There is ample room to manoeuvre and a coach can turn round without difficulty. Parking is in front of the salaš, with space for roughly 30 to 40 cars, and there is one further space in front of each of the three guest rooms.
Sremska Mitrovica is ancient Sirmium, one of the four capitals of the Roman Empire and the birthplace of several Roman emperors. Sirmium lies on the official cultural route Roman Emperors Route (Itinerarium Romanum Serbiae), so a meal at the salaš fits easily into sightseeing in the city on the same day.

What we serve
Our cooking is farmstead cooking from Srem. The menu is agreed in advance, together with the number of guests and the time of the meal, and we do our best to make sure everything that reaches the table has been prepared or picked on the salaš.

For organised groups we offer three set menus, with a cold starter and a hot main course, cabbage salad and a dessert. The composition of each menu is on the Group Menus page.
- Pečeno prasence (roast suckling pig) — from the brick oven, with crisp crackling, sometimes smoked as well
- Tradicionalni sremski ručak (traditional Srem lunch) — home-made noodle soup, boiled meat and vegetables, štrudla (strudel)
- Mezetluk (a platter of savoury nibbles) — home-cured meats and dairy products from local producers, prepared in the traditional way
- Svašta pod sačem (an assortment cooked under the sač, a bell-shaped baking lid) — veal, beef and rabbit cooked under the sač

Capacity and weather
Indoors we offer 80 seats — that is how many sit comfortably. With the outdoor area, total capacity is 120 guests.
For coach groups this means in practice that the weather does not affect the plan: a standard coach of 48 to 55 seats fits entirely into the indoor area, so the meal takes place inside regardless of rain. We use the outdoor area when a group is larger than 80 people, or when guests themselves prefer it.

What a visit looks like
A group normally stays two to three hours: the meal, drinks, a look round the salaš and the gift shop, then on. This is not a roadside stop for a quick bite but a station in the day’s programme — guests sit down, eat without hurrying and see the property.
We greet every group with a welcome drink, and the menu is agreed in advance. On request, tamburaši or a wine tasting with a sommelier can be arranged alongside the meal — that is what turns a lunch break into part of the programme rather than just a meal. Details are on the Group Menus page.
Two coaches can stand in the car park in front of the salaš at the same time. The driver and the guide do not pay for their meal with us, and the toilets are free of charge.
The gift shop sells home-made produce from the salaš, magnets and small gifts — for groups from abroad this is most often the only part of the day when they can take something home-made away with them.
There are animals on the property as well — two ponies, Srećko and Lokica, hens, ducks, geese, dogs and cats — so a look round the salaš is more than a stroll through a yard.

The meal is ready when the group arrives
The salaš is not a restaurant you walk into off the street. We work strictly by prior arrangement, at least one day in advance, and that is a condition of quality rather than a formality. As it says on the Delicacies page: “All food is prepared immediately before the guests arrive so that everything is served hot and fresh, which is why we always insist on agreeing the number of guests and the menu in advance.”
For an agency this means that the number of guests, the arrival time and the menu are known before the coach sets off, so preparation in the kitchen is timed to that hour. We communicate directly with drivers and guides — by email before the trip and in person on arrival.
Arrangements and correspondence are handled by email. We speak English directly, and for German we use translation when needed.
More than 50 groups in the last five years
Over the past five years we have hosted more than 50 tourist groups, so coach arrivals are routine for us: an arrival time known in advance, an agreed menu and direct contact with the driver and the guide.

The salaš has been featured on TV Prva’s programmes “Srećna Srbija” and “150 minuta”, on AgroTV’s “Lepše od Pariza” and “Jutro sa Jovanom i Srđanom”, and on “Život po meri” on RTV Vojvodine, which presented it as an essential part of the city’s tourist offer.
The salaš was built in 1965; it once stood beside the Sava and was moved because of an industrial complex. “Isailovi” is the Jovanović family’s nickname, after an ancestor named Isailo, a priest from Greece who was given a parish in Sremska Mitrovica, and the salaš carries that name to this day.
How to get a price list
We need three pieces of information in order to make an offer: the number of people, the date and the time of the meal. On that basis we send a price list and a proposed menu for your group.
If you are planning several dates in the season, send them in the same message. Two conditions stay the same: arrangement at least one day in advance and a minimum group of 20 people.
You confirm the final number of guests no later than seven days before arrival; if you book later than that, we agree the number at the time of booking. The confirmed number of guests is charged, including when fewer people arrive than were confirmed. Groups arriving through an agency: the agreed amount is charged whether or not the group arrives. The salaš holds the slot on that day and takes no other guests, while the agency charges for its own service under its contract. The full cancellation terms are stated in the offer.
