The basics

Salaš “Isailovi” is not a restaurant you walk into off the street. Everything begins with an arrangement, by phone or by email, and only after that do we prepare the space and cook the food.

Can I drop in without notice?

No. The salaš is not a restaurant you walk into off the street and works strictly by prior arrangement.

How far in advance should I get in touch?

At least one day beforehand, so that we have time to agree the number of guests and the menu and so that the food is freshly prepared.

What is the minimum number of guests?

The minimum group is 20 people.

Where is the salaš?

At Rumski drum bb, about 5 km from the centre of Sremska Mitrovica and 5 minutes from the E70 motorway exit.

How long has the salaš been here?

It was built in 1965. Behind it stands the Jovanović family, known by the nickname “Isailovi”.

What ratings do you have?

On Google 4.7 from 453 reviews, on Booking.com 9.4.

How do I contact you?

Phone +381 65 5506929, email salas.isailovi@gmail.com. More on the Contact page.

What animals are there on the salaš?

Two ponies (Srećko and Lokica), hens, ducks, geese, dogs and cats. Groups visit them as part of the programme.

Can children ride the ponies?

Riding is not on offer. Children may feed and pat the ponies, and an adult responsible for the children’s safety must be present.

Do you take children round the property?

Yes, on a tractor-drawn carriage, but only when the weather allows. We do not run it in the rain.

Is there a playground for children?

There is: swings, a gravel surface and a wooden climbing castle.

Capacity and space

The figures below show how many guests we can look after properly, not how many could physically be squeezed into the space. We state them exactly as we agree them.

How many guests do you take in the indoor area?

80 at tables. That is what we offer, because that is the number at which guests are not cramped; it is not the physical limit of the space.

What is the total capacity?

Up to 120 guests, when the outdoor area is used alongside the indoor one.

How many rooms are there in the indoor area?

Four. One takes 40 guests, the other two 30 each, and the fourth is small and is usually available to the musicians and photographers. The sum of those figures is not what we offer — in any arrangement we always work to 80 seats in the indoor area.

What if the weather turns during a celebration?

Guests move indoors, into the three halls, which in that situation can take up to 100 people. That is a solution for an emergency, not the layout we agree in advance — what is agreed is 80.

What is a celebration like in fine weather?

Everything is outdoors, on freshly mown grass, under parasols.

Is there a covered area outdoors?

There is, but it is cramped and not particularly comfortable. Do not count on it as a solution for a whole celebration.

Can a marquee be hired?

It can. Marquees are hired and charged separately. Tell us the date and the number of guests and we will see whether you need one.

Does the weather change the plan for a coach group?

It does not. A standard coach has 48 to 55 seats, which fits entirely into the indoor area, within the 80 seats.

What if it rains during a children’s group visit?

We replace the activities planned for outdoors with ones in the indoor area. In such cases we take up to 100 children inside.

Food

We cook on the salaš, for the exact number of guests and to a menu agreed in advance. The full selection of dishes is on the Delicacies page.

Where is the food prepared?

All the food is cooked on the salaš.

Can I bring my own caterer?

No. The food is prepared on the salaš and your own catering is not possible.

When is the menu agreed?

In advance, together with the number of guests. All food is prepared immediately before the guests arrive so that everything is served hot and fresh, which is why we always insist on agreeing the number of guests and the menu in advance.

What is there to eat on the salaš?

Pečeno prasence (roast suckling pig) from the brick oven, tradicionalni sremski ručak (a traditional Srem lunch), mezetluk (a platter of savoury nibbles), svašta pod sačem (an assortment cooked under the sač, a bell-shaped baking lid), salašarski roštilj (farmstead grill), pohovano pileće belo (breaded chicken breast) and salašarski paprikaš (farmstead paprikaš stew).

What desserts do you have?

Baklava, štrudla (strudel), krofne (doughnuts) and knedle sa šljivama (plum dumplings).

Where can I see the full selection of dishes?

On the Delicacies page, and the proposed menus for groups are on the Groups / Group Menus page.

What if someone has an allergy or needs a special diet?

Tell us in advance how many meals are needed and of what type. We will confirm what we can prepare before you confirm your visit.

Music and equipment

The music is your choice. The raised platform and the projector are on the salaš and you do not need to bring them.

Can I bring my own band or DJ?

You can. Your own music is allowed.

Is there a raised platform?

Yes, a raised platform for music and dancing is available.

Do you have a projector?

We have a projector.

Where are the musicians and the photographer put?

The small fourth room in the indoor area is usually used for the musicians and photographers.

Getting here and parking

The salaš is close to the E70 motorway, and in front of it there is room for both cars and coaches.

How far is the salaš from the E70 motorway?

5 minutes from the exit, and 5 km from the centre of Sremska Mitrovica.

How long is the journey from Belgrade and Novi Sad?

About 50 minutes from Belgrade, about 55 minutes from Novi Sad.

How far is it from the Batrovci border crossing?

Between 30 and 45 minutes.

How many vehicles can park?

The car park in front of the salaš holds two coaches at the same time, along with roughly 30 to 40 cars. There is one space in front of each of the three guest rooms.

How many toilets are there?

Four in total, two men’s and two women’s. They are free to use.

Coach groups

For groups everything is agreed in advance — the number of guests and the menu — and the food is then prepared immediately before arrival. Details for agencies are on the Groups, Groups / Getting here, Groups / Group Menus and Groups / Programmes pages.

How long does a group normally stay?

Two to three hours: the meal, drinks, a look round the salaš and the gift shop.

Do the driver and the guide pay for their meal?

They do not.

Does the whole group fit into the indoor area?

A standard coach has 48 to 55 seats and fits within the 80 seats in the indoor area, so the weather does not change the plan for the meal.

Do you have a gift shop?

We do. We sell home-made produce from the salaš, magnets and small gifts.

What is the minimum number of people for a group?

20 people, the same as for all other visits.

Where can I see the offer for agencies?

On the Groups page and its sub-pages Getting here, Group Menus and Programmes.

Accommodation

You can also stay the night on the salaš, in three rooms. Details are on the Rooms page.

Is it possible to stay overnight on the salaš?

It is. Three rooms are available.

What are the rooms like?

Each room has two beds and a seating set on the terrace.

Who is the accommodation suitable for?

Guests who come from further afield and are not returning the same day. More on the Rooms page.

How do I book a room?

The same as everything else: tell us the date and the number of people on +381 65 5506929 or salas.isailovi@gmail.com.

Booking

We need two pieces of information in order to make an offer: how many of you there are and what date you are coming. Everything else follows from that.

What should I send when asking for an offer?

The number of guests and the date. On that basis we send you back an offer and a proposed menu.

How do I send an enquiry?

By email to salas.isailovi@gmail.com, by phone on +381 65 5506929 or through the Contact page.

How far in advance should I book?

At least one day in advance. For weddings and larger celebrations get in touch earlier, so that we can check whether the date is free.

What occasions do you host celebrations for?

Weddings, birthdays and corporate celebrations; each occasion has its own page in the Events section.

Can I see what the salaš looks like first?

Have a look at the Gallery page; the story of the salaš is on the About page.

Do you issue documents in euros?

For foreign agencies and guests we issue documents in euros.

How is payment made?

In cash, with a receipt. Cashless payment goes through the Turistička organizacija grada Sremska Mitrovica.

By when is the final number of guests confirmed?

No later than seven days before arrival. If you book later than that, we agree the number at the time of booking.

Which number is charged?

The confirmed number of guests, including when fewer people arrive than were confirmed.

How do I cancel?

The cancellation terms are set out in the offer we send. For groups arriving through an agency, the agreed amount is charged whether or not the group arrives.

Send us the number of guests and the date

Tell us how many of you there are and what date you are coming, and we will send you back an offer with a proposed menu. Phone +381 65 5506929, email salas.isailovi@gmail.com. The salaš works strictly by arrangement, at least one day in advance, for groups of 20 people and up.
